Throughout the Food Festival the Town is full of food and drink. In addition to the regular opportunities to savour the best the Town can offer, there are a whole host of special ‘eating’ events.

Saturday October 15, from 9.00am
Food Festival Farmers Market Special
Across the Town, including Tarrant Street
The regular Arundel Farmers Market takes on a bigger, longer and more active style to mark the opening of the Food Festival. The market brings together food suppliers from across West Sussex. It’s a showcase of the fantastic food, drink and hospitality to be found in our local area.

Spread across Jubilee Gardens, the Town Quay and Town Square there will be more than 40 regular market stalls, plus additional stalls not normally seen at the regular Farmers Market. The market is extended into the afternoon, to 2.30. Special tastings will be on offer at many stalls and the Arundel Butchers will put on a BBQ in the Town Square.

There will also be Food Festival stall with details about events later in the week, and (depending on tides and weather) tickets for special boat trips with a commentary from  a South Downs National Park ranger, giving insights into food and farming in the Arun Valley.

There will be additional activities in Tarrant Square, Tarrant Street from 10am to 4pm

• The National Trust and Agenda 21 (Greening Arundel) have teamed up to offer a demonstration of apple pressing, using a press loaned by Arundel Castle. The apple pressing is an event everyone can join in (subject to adult supervision). Download a flyer from here to find out what you’ll need to bring to take part.  It also marks the launch of the Arundel Orchard Mapping initiative, to identify all the fruit trees in the town. Find out how you can join in this important initiative.

• You’ll also find information and inspiration on sustainable eating from Agenda 21 (including information on sustainable fish) and Better Tomorrows (including inspiring and practical ideas to save you money and save food waste).

• Arundel is a Fair Trade Town and the local Fair Trade group will also be offering tastings and information on Fair Trade products.
